China, the world's largest exporter of apparel, is expected to be the major beneficiary of the phasing out of the Multi Fibre Agreement on 1st January 2005.
Many foreign multinational clothing companies, especially US-based companies like Wal-Mart, Gap, and Liz Claiborne who have been importing textiles and apparels from at least 30 countries will now source from countries with large production capacities such as China, and to some extent from India...
